What Is a Stranger Trip? Group Travel for Solo Travellers, Explained

5 October 2026 By Exporio Holidays Travel Desk

Want to travel but can't find friends who are free on the same dates? A Stranger Trip solves that. You book a seat on a fixed-departure group trip and travel with other people who, like you, simply wanted to go.

How a Stranger Trip works

  • Pick a trip and a departure. Most of our Stranger Trips leave every Friday evening from Delhi.
  • Book your seat. You pay for one person; rooms are shared on a double, triple or quad basis.
  • Meet the group at the pickup point. A trip leader or experienced driver handles the plan from there.
  • Stays, transport and the day-by-day itinerary are already arranged, so you only bring your bag.

Who is it for?

Solo travellers, couples and small friend groups who want a planned trip at a shared-cost price. Many people book alone and come back with a new travel group for their next trip.

What does it cost?

Because vehicles and rooms are shared, Stranger Trips are some of our most affordable packages. Current departures start from ₹4,500 per person for Manali, Solang & Parvati Valley (4 nights / 5 days) and ₹5,000 for Tirthan Valley & Jibhi or Chopta Tungnath.

Is it safe to travel with strangers?

Groups are planned and supported by our team before and during the trip. You'll have the trip leader's contact, fixed stays and a set route. As on any trip, keep your ID and valuables with you and follow the trip leader's timings.

Tips for your first Stranger Trip

  • Reach the pickup point 30 minutes early; overnight departures leave on time.
  • Pack light: one backpack plus a day bag is ideal for traveller buses.
  • Carry a government photo ID; hotels and checkposts ask for it.
  • Keep some cash for en-route meals and optional activities, which are usually not included.

See every upcoming departure on our Stranger Trip page or tap Join Trip on any card and we'll call you back.
