Kedarnath Yatra in a Group: Trek Plan, Packing List & Tips

2 October 2026 By Exporio Holidays Travel Desk

Kedarnath is one of the most important pilgrimages in the Himalayas, and the 16–18 km trek is easier when you do it with a group and a fixed plan. Our Kedarnath Yatra leaves Delhi every Friday: 3 nights / 4 days from ₹7,899 per person.

The plan

  • Day 1: night departure from Delhi, reaching Phata by evening for a hotel stay.
  • Day 2: early drive to Sonprayag, shuttle to Gaurikund, then the 16–18 km trek to Kedarnath. Evening aarti and a night in camps near the temple.
  • Day 3: morning darshan, breakfast at camp and the trek down to Gaurikund, then back to Phata.
  • Day 4: drive back to Delhi with a stop at Devprayag, where the Alaknanda and Bhagirathi meet.

How hard is the trek?

The path is paved but steep, and the altitude makes it tiring. Most people take 6–9 hours to climb. Ponies, palkis and helicopter seats are available at extra cost and are not part of the package. Start early and walk at a steady pace.

When is Kedarnath open?

The temple usually opens around late April or May and closes around October/November; exact dates are announced each year. Registration for the yatra is mandatory, and we guide our groups through it.

Packing list

  • A warm jacket, gloves and a cap: nights at Kedarnath are cold even in summer.
  • A light raincoat or poncho.
  • Trekking shoes you have already walked in.
  • Basic medicines, ORS and any personal prescriptions.
  • Government photo ID for registration and checkposts.

Good to know

Meals at the Kedarnath top are not included; carry some cash. Full payment is due 3 days before departure, and late cancellations carry charges. The full terms are on the trip page.
